Many the holidays or other special events come, many of us will find ourselves surrounded by food and the concern of weight gain during this time. The best way to avoid weight gain is to remember to eat in moderation and try some of the following tips during holiday or any party time. - Don't skip meals because you are going to have a big meal that day. It's important to eat your regular meals so you aren't famished when you arrive at the party.
- Drink plenty of water. Alternate water with alcoholic drinks. This will eliminate drinking too much which can stimulate your appetite and cravings for higher calorie foods.
- Don't stand by the food. Remember to mingle among the guests and socialize. You'll be less tempted to eat more.
- If you are hungry and need to eat the hors d'oeuvres, remember to reach for the vegetables, without dip, fruit or perhaps the rye crackers. If you are taking hors d'oeuvres to the party opt for something low calorie.
- Have a cup of broth soup before the meal. This will help fill you up. Take your time eating. Give your stomach time to digest the food you are eating, so you don't overeat.
- Stick to a regular routine with sleep and exercise. Many times being tired or stressed is mistaken for hunger.
- If you are hosting the party have available water and low calorie snacks for your guests.
These are just a few suggestions to help you prevent or keep weight gain to a minimum during the holiday and other celebrations. Not worrying about weight gain will also help reduce your stress during these times. | |
