The Women's Health America Restore® Program integrates the very latest in leading laboratory technology and pharmaceutical science with traditional values in health care: listening to patients and responding to their individual needs. It's medicine for this millennium - where patients are treated as individuals and practitioners can use this new technology to return to the art of patient care. In the wake of the controversy over hormone therapy, this approach is more important than ever.

Experts Recommend Low-Dose, Customized Prescriptive Care

Statements by The North American Society (NAMS), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Federal Drug Administration (FDA) indicate hormone therapy is a viable option for women, however, they advise clinicians to take a new approach by prescribing customized hormone therapy using the lowest effective dose.

''Postmenopausal hormone therapy is a major, personal decision for women, and they should be armed with the lates key facts and useful tools to make the best decision for their needs...Our recommendation is that if you choose to use hormone therapy for hot flashes or vaginal dryness, or if you prefer it to other treatments to prevent thin bones, take the lowest dose for the least duration required to provide relief.''

Mark B. McClellan, M.D., Ph.D, Commissioner, United States Food and Drug Administration, September 9, 2003 Press Release

Restore® is the Wave of the Future, Here Today

This low-dose, individualized approach to hormone therapy may be the wave of the future for most, but Women's Health America and the Restore® program have been doing this successfully for more than twenty years. Restore® takes the guesswork out of prescribing and provides all the tools and expertise for patient case management.

The Restore® Program consists of three components:
  1. Analytical measurement of saliva to determine hormone levels, and of urine NTx to measure rate of bone loss.
  2. Customized prescriptions specific to each patient's results and medical history, always taking into account that each person produces, metabolizes, absorbs, and responds to hormones differently. Our pharmacists use pure, pharmaceutical-grade products to hand-prepare each prescription. These natural hormones (derived from soy) are biologically identical to what the body produces.
  3. Ongoing case management and FREE follow-up testing are provided to the healthcare provider and patient. Our nurse and pharmacists assist the healthcare provider in evaluating and adjusting the plan of care to attain optimal therapeutic outcomes.

''The Restore® program from Women's Health America provides customized dosing for individual patients, merging the patient clinical needs with supporting laboratory data. It's the future of hormone therapy.''

Claude Hughes, M.D., Ph.D, Consulting Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Duke University Medical Center

The Restore® Process:

Measuring your hormone levels is essential for determining your unique hormone profile. Once you have that information, you and your healthcare provider can determine whether self-care or an individualized course of low-dose hormone therapy is the best option for your symptom management. We also suggest a baseline measurement of your rate of bone loss for use in developing a self-care or prescription plan for preventing osteoporosis.

Once you and your healthcare provider have decided on testing, the Restore Program process is very simple:

  • Your provider can order testing by completing a Restore enrollment form. Once we have received the signed order from your healthcare provider we will contact you to:
    1. Explain the specific testing that your provider has ordered.
    2. Verify your acceptance of the testing, payment preference, and shipping information. NOTE: Testing may be reimbursable under your insurance plan. We will send you all the receipts and insurance codes (CPT) to submit to your insurance company.
    3. Review how and when to collect your samples.
  • Once you receive your test kit, collect your samples.
    1. Your test kit will arrive with everything you'll need to collect the required samples (typically saliva and urine) in the privacy of your own home. An instruction booklet with a short health history form is also included. We encourage you to contact Women's Health America at any time with any questions or concerns you might have.

  • Return your test kit and a completed health history
    1. Return postage is pre-paid to our lab, Madison BioDiagnostics, LLC.
  • Our registered nurse and pharmacists are available to assist your healthcare provider in evaluating your clinical results.
    1. You'll receive notification when your test results are sent to your healthcare provider.
  • Discuss the test results with your healthcare provider and determine your best course of action-- self-care or prescription therapy.
    1. If testing suggests that beginning a course of low-dose natural prescription hormone therapy might be beneficial, your healthcare provider may choose to prescribe through Madison Pharmacy Associates.
You can also choose to work with Madison Pharmacy Associates simply by faxing us the prescription(s) your healthcare provider has written for you.
A Restore case manager provides ongoing consultation and monitoring through free follow-up testing at 90 days after beginning hormone therapy for patients filling prescriptions through Madison Pharmacy Associates.
Free Follow-up testing is also conducted annually for patients who continuously fill prescriptions through our pharmacy.

Why fill your prescription through Madison Pharmacy Associates?

Madison Pharmacy Associates was the first pharmacy in the U.S. to specialize in women's health, specifically PMS. Since 1982 we have provided compounded low-dose prescriptions, individualized to meet a woman's unique hormonal needs. We continue to lead the field of customized prescription care through ongoing research, improving drug delivery and diagnostic testing methods, and by maintaining the highest standards of prescription purity and accuracy.

Madison Pharmacy Associates is the only pharmacy to offer free follow-up testing and rate of bone loss testing for our hormone therapy patients.

This type of monitoring and ongoing case management allows you and your healthcare provider to continue to evaluate and adjust your plan of care. Periodic testing is the most accurate and convenient way to monitor how well your hormone therapy prescription(s) are working. These tests show if your medications have brought your hormone levels and rate of bone loss within the optimal range. If you are experiencing symptoms of overdosing or underdosing, follow-up testing takes the guesswork out of finding where the adjustments need to be made.

We offer this free follow-up testing to our prescription therapy patients as part of our commitment to the goal of helping you attain optimal therapeutic outcomes at the lowest effective dose.
